The New England Barbecue Society is proud to help cook again this year for the “Tyler Ride,” a motorcycle poker run that helps raise money for the Tyler Fund. Tyler is a 13 year old boy who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was 4 years old. The Tyler Fund was set up to help with the purchases of specialized equipment that he needs now, and will need in the very near future.

The Tyler Ride will take place on Saturday July 11, 2009. It will begin and end at the VFW on Prescott St. in Westford, MA. Stops will be at the Brookline Auction Gallery, in Brookline, N.H. and Brady’s American Grill, in Peterborough, N.H.

NEBS, along with many other volunteers, will be serving barbecue at the end of the ride, where there will also be live music, raffles and trophies for Tyler's favorite motorcycles.

Anyone wishing to help prep, cook and/or serve barbecue may contact Andy King for more details: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or 978-257-3125.

It is with great sadness we report the passing of Doug Corey, long time member of the Bastey Boys
 Douglas MacKenzie Corey

Douglas Corey died unexpectedly on December 17, 2008, at home in Arlington, MA. He was born in San Francisco, CA, on May 8, 1963. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Donald and Susan (Duerfeldt) Corey of Bedford, MA; two brothers, Matthew Corey of Los Angeles, CA, and Peter Corey of Lunenburg, MA; a sister, Brooke Corey of Jamaica Plain, MA; his close companion, Donna Little; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Douglas was a graduate of Bedford High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Management from the University of Rhode Island. He worked on environmental remediation of properties contaminated with oil or hazardous materials and on cleanup of spills of such materials. He was licensed as a Hazardous Waste Site Cleanup Professional (LSP) by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and managed a number of such projects during his career.

His favorite hobby was barbequing with the Bastey Boys, a local group that had won awards in barbeque competitions in recent years throughout the country.

In accordance with his wishes, tissue donations were made to the N.E. Organ Bank to hopefully save or reduce the suffering of others. In lieu of flowers and in consideration of his lifelong concern for the care of animals, donations to animal rescue organizations such as MSPCA-Angell, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130, or Animal Rescue League of Boston, 10 Chandler St., Boston, MA 02116 would be appreciated.
