Barbecue is growing in the Northeast. The proof is in the numbers. More teams are competing and festival attendance grows every year. Last year 50 teams fired up their cookers and the crowd grew to over 16,000. This year’s goal is for 60 teams to pit their barbecue skills against some sharp competition for bragging rights and a portion of the prize money. Limiting to 50 teams will mean a better contest atmosphere so we can take care of contestants. Our event is a NY State Championship. This event features a NEBS four category contest on Saturday and a traditional four category KCBS contest on Sunday.
For detailed information download both the Contest Application and the Cooks Info Sheet, which can be downloaded here.

The New England Barbecue Society is pleased to invite all of its members to the 8th Annual NEBS SummerFest!
SummerFest will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 22 & 23, at Camp Collier in Gardner, Massachusetts. Members and their guests may come and spend the day, or camp for the entire weekend. Camping will be also be allowed on Friday night, August 21, starting at 5pm. This is not a barbecue contest. This is an opportunity for all NEBS members to get together for a weekend of camping, cooking, socializing, and sharing great food with one another.
Located on beautiful Lake Wampanoag, Camp Collier is a former Boy Scout camp, complete with a large dining hall, lots of camping sites, and 600 acres of fields, forests, trails, and shorefront. The crystal-clear lake is teeming with bass, pickerel, perch, hornpout and more. Fishing is allowed with a valid Massachusetts fishing license, and non-motorized watercrafts are allowed. Some of the great activities at SummerFest include Sunday morning community breakfast, kayaking and canoeing on the lake, hiking, swimming, blueberry picking and, of course, lots of great food. Lifeguards will be on duty for your safety. Beginning at 5:00 on Saturday, there will be a pot-luck happy hour in the main dining hall, so feel free to come and introduce yourself and mingle with fellow NEBS members.
Members who are familiar with competition cooking may bring their pits, canopies, etc. and set up as they would for a contest, if they so desire. Others may wish to travel lighter and simply bring their camping gear. There is plenty of room for camping, whether you want to stay with a large group, or venture off to a more secluded site. RVs are allowed, but there is no dumping station and very limited electricity. Those who don’t like to camp may decide to come for the day, or stay at local hotels within 5 miles or so of the camp.
