NEBS Seasoned Judge Requirements
Requirements to become and maintain the status of a NEBS Certified Judge:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must have taken the NEBS Judging Certification class or a similar KCBS class with proof of completion.
- Must be a member of NEBS and in good standing.
Requirements to become and maintain the status of NEBS Seasoned Certified Judge:
- Must be a NEBS Certified Judge
- Receive 15 credits (one credit equals one day of judging event)
- Proof of judging a NEBS contest is required and needs to be recorded with the event’s Contest Official to be verified.
- If a judge participates in judging a two-day event, two credits will be given. If only one day of a two-day event is judged, one credit will be given.
- Judge will be required to participate in 10 judging events that include at least one NEBS Backyard, one NEBS Classic 3 or 4 category, one NEBS Kids Q and one NEBS ancillary.
- Judge will also need to be a Table Captain at two NEBS contests.
- Judges will also need to volunteer at two NEBS contests, which includes any of the following (turn-in table, assist with overall scoring completion, comp rep or marketing booth or any contest official assigned job)
- Judge will need to cook with a competing team at one NEBS contest.
- Must be a member of NEBS and in good standing.
- If NEBS membership has not been maintained, the person must reactivate their membership and pay the appropriate membership fee.
- If a person judges an event and is not a NEBS member, no credit will be given for the event(s) judged.
Each Judge is responsible for keeping accurate records of judging events and updating their profile on the NEBS website.
